Indian Elections 2019
The Indian subcontinent has unique geography. The lower part of the country is surrounded by sea in three directions. The lowest point is in Kanyakumari in the southern tip of the subcontinent and the highest point is in the imposing Himalayan ranges on the northernmost part of the country. The subcontinent is ‘V’ shaped. In the English alphabet, the letter V is the 21st letter. If we look at number 21, 2 and 1 add up to 3. The number 3 is significant in the three major religions - Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam. There is the Christian Trinity of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. The Hindu Trinity consists of Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheswara. Islam was founded by Prophet Mohammed who had 2 major disciples.
If we take Indian music, there are basic requirements to create a music ensemble - an accordion type instrument the Harmonium, traditional Indian drum called the Tabla and the music beat or raga. Of these, the Harmonium plays the lead and the rest follow. Even in our political world, there are three major factions - the BJP, Congress and the rest lead by parties such as TMC, Samajwadi party, etc. These parties play on the national stage. If they all work together there will be great harmony in the country and the music of peace will play on for generations. Currently, there is one major party, the BJP, which is leading the national stage. In a musical concert, the main musician keeps the audience’s attention with his talent and uniqueness and creates a positive emotion in the audience. Otherwise, people won’t stay and listen. Similarly, we are lucky to have a talented and knowledgeable leader in Narendra Modi who is experienced in all facets of leading a country such as India.
Whether it is finance, defense, national security, education, farming, infrastructure, growth or cleanliness of the country, our prime minister has been striving hard on all fronts to take India ahead. Such a leader is like a fruit tree. The nature of a fruit tree is to continue bearing fruits, even as insects and other pests try and attack the tree. The sweetness of the fruit remains the same. That fruit may be eaten by birds, animals or humans. A river is also very similar. If we don’t make use of a river’s water, it is our fault and not the fault of the river. The river keeps giving water when its source is full. Our prime minister has demonstrated over the last five years that he is a selfless giver and not a taker.
Even though Jesus was nailed on the cross, he continued to offer good advice to people. His nature never changed. If a king is placed amongst thieves, he will continue to behave in a manner befitting his royal status. Similarly, if a thief is placed on a throne, he will continue to harbor his thieving ways. Everyone reverts to their individual nature wherever they are placed. Being in the public eye for so many years, we know the nature of our prime minister, he wants the best for our country and we have gained respect on the world stage during his short tenure of just 5 years. The other major party has ruled India for most of the 70 years since Independence. If we divide 70 by 5, we get the number 14. This number adds up to 5 (4 +1). The number 5 represents the Pancha Bhootas or the five elements namely earth, water, air, space, and fire. These 5 elements are everywhere and our prime minister has deep knowledge of them. The three main political factions are pulling the country in three directions. Five is greater than three and if we all understand that these five elements are common to all human beings we will begin to work together.
There is a big difference between a hook and a chain link. A leader is like a hook, he can independently bear the country’s load. A chain link, on the other hand, cannot bear that load in isolation. It needs the help of other political parties and when power is distributed among many parties, progress is stalled as factional differences are bound to swell up. How we live is more important than how long we live. Similarly how a leader rules the nation is more important than how long he leads the nation. Both rockets and airplanes fly in the sky. But the speed and power of a rocket are far greater than an airplane. Similarly, not every member of a political party may have the same skills, work ethic and strength of will. Those who do must be elevated to the status of leaders and not otherwise. A horse and a donkey look similar when they are first born. But their characteristics are very different once they are grown. A horse can run much faster than the other. A donkey can carry heavy loads up a mountain. Both have unique attributes but the look of a person riding a horse versus a donkey is very different. Our country is like a racehorse and the person commanding the country as a leader should be similarly suitable.
