Jammakol Arudam system of Prashna Shastra Astrology
History of Jama Kol and how to tell your future
Jama Kol is the science of being able to predict accurately the past, present and future using the concept of time, place and the position of the sun.
This world came about through the five elements—air, water, fire, land, and space. Of these, the source of life is water. First, plants and grasses came into being. When these perished, the water caused them to rot and worms and insects came about. These lived on land and water, and after further evolution became flying creatures. After millions of years, genetic material evolved and monkeys, then cows and humans began to appear.
Those first humans did not know the concept of time. They started to learn about themselves by observing nature. When they lived in caves, birds chirping signaled the morning and they came out to experience sunlight. Then they started praying to the sun as God. As the sun moved in the sky from east to west, casting shadows, they began to measure the length of those shadows and came up with the concept of time. Eventually, astrology based on the 27 stars or nakshatras was devised. The main star was Sukra, the bright one in the northeast direction. Observing birds exhibit different behaviors at various times of the day, they divided the day into four parts, then eight, followed by sixteen. As they did not have watches like we do today, they used the sun as their clock. Dividing the day into Jamas, (1 Jama = 1.5 hrs), they placed the sun in the middle and nine planets around it. They divided the months based on the sun.
Mesha/Vrichika, owner Kuja
Mithuna/Kanya, owner Budha
Rishaba/Tula, owner Sukhra
Meena/Dhanusa, owner Jupiter
Makara/Kumbha, owner Saturn
Rahu/Ketu. These are like shadows, neither here nor there. They give their power to whichever planet they are associated with. The only one they leave alone is Surya. They cannot cast their shadow on the sun.
Rahu is associated with the mind, Ketu with intuition.
In the Jamakol, they use 8 planets, whereas astrology uses 9 planets.
Eight planets are fixed in twelve houses. The three main elements are Bhumi (earth) = Mesha, Water = Rishiba, Air = Mithuna.
In addition, the Rashis are Sthira (same place), Sthara (different place), and Upa (same or different place).
These planets have power from a distance, just like electromagnetic energy. Our cell phone can contact another cell phone from thousands of kilometers away, similarly, the planets have an impact on us.
Mesha = Sthara
Rishiba = Sthira
Mithuna = Upa
Each house is 30 degrees, and twelve houses make 360 degrees or one rotation of the earth around the sun.
From Mesha to Rishiba is 45 degrees, from Rishiba to Mithuna is 45 degrees.
There are six padas. Ashwini, Kruthika, Rohini, Mrugasheela, Aridhya.
There are three routes: Mesha, Rishiba, Mithuna. All lead to the same place.
The year is divided as follows.
