Education and Knowledge. What is the difference?
There is a vast difference between education and knowledge. Education helps in pursuing a vocation and for earning money. True knowledge is spiritual in nature, it is for helping others and for imparting spiritual wisdom that cannot be found in any textbook. Education is imparted by humans, while knowledge is a God-given gift. A certificate from the Divine in the form of spiritual knowledge is far more valuable than any certificate given by even the most reputable university in the world.
A college degree is a piece of paper and its value is determined by humans. Those who hold these degrees enhance or decrease their value through their thoughts, words, and actions. Divine knowledge that comes from God cannot be seen by the naked eye, but that ‘certificate’ can be seen by those who have the power of intuition.
There are many fields of study that students pursue. The most brilliant ones become scientists and researchers. They don’t necessarily need the backing of a conferred degree to come up with new ideas, inventions, or discoveries. Educational certificates are an addition. Their contributions are a form of spiritual knowledge. Indirectly, God is helping humankind through scientists who are discovering and inventing something new all the time.
Students who pursue fields such as chartered accounting or medicine also have knowledge that does not depend on their degree. A doctor, for instance, can suggest cures for a disease based not on a degree that he or she may have attained years ago, but from direct experience and knowledge that comes from observation. Engineers are also innovative and don’t necessarily need the backing of their degree certificate. From one field of engineering, they can apply their knowledge to another field.
Those who enter judicial fields and become judges (not all, but some) depend solely on their degrees to exert their authority. By virtue of their profession, they cannot be original. They have to stick to what is written in the book of the law. They serve a very useful role in society if they are for the people and not for their own power and prestige. By serving people to the best of their ability, they will also ensure that their children and grandchildren will thrive and prosper. Karma gets transmitted to future generations based on our conduct.
Power is only for a limited period of time. Knowledge is for ever. Those in power should not exhibit an ego or use their power in a manner that causes trouble to others. They may be removed from a position of power at any time. One major mistake and it is all over for them.
We should all strive to use our educational qualifications to help others and work with others as brothers and sisters, for the betterment of this country. Those blessed with spiritual knowledge should impart that knowledge to all irrespective of caste, culture, community, or social standing. That knowledge belongs to all and must be freely shared. Together, knowledge and education are like two hands. It takes two hands to clap. We cannot clap with just one hand. Let’s all work together, putting ego and personal preferences aside.
Blessings to all
