We start from zero and return to zero
When we are in our mother’s womb, for the first few weeks, we are just a round ball of cells without a specific form. A defined shape and form come later. When we come out of the womb, we are under an endless sky. Such a shapeless form called pinda turns into a well-defined form which then gets the desire to roam the sky called aanda. Our life is limited. It is as if we are limited to the numbers 0 to 9. We start as a 0 - which is the same shape as the pinda and the aanda (the sky all around the earth). As the ego grows, we accumulate objects and we climb up and up. The number 9 also has an oval or zero shape with a tail. We hold onto this ‘tail’ and one day we return back to 0. It is the truth for everyone.
Pinda dinda huttidha manasha aanda nenasthanae
Thiraga pinda aagathanae
Our ego grows with money, influence, and power. Ego makes us forget where we will ultimately return. We hide behind our desks, uniforms, and forget the pain of others. A doctor who has been a patient and knows what pain is will become a very good doctor. The value of a healthy body will be known only when we get sick. By misusing power, money and our influence, we invite disease and pain into our body. Our ego will disappear when we see a blind man struggling to cross a road. Our eyes are given to appreciate the beauty of nature and creation, not to covet the belongings of another or to secretly see our ill-gotten wealth. Just as the sun distributes all its light from morning to night, we should distribute freely our abilities and resources for the benefit of all.
Blessings to all
