How to keep a healthy body and enjoy life
There are three important factors to consider for a healthy and happy life.
Environment
Food
Thought
The environment is a very important aspect of a healthy body and a healthy mind. Nature is a great gift to humans. There is so much to enjoy in nature. If we are able to experience happiness just by looking at nature, that happiness will cause all our pain, sickness and misery to melt away.
We are what we eat. The body turns whatever food we eat into bones, flesh, blood, and all the cells and organs of the body. If we eat with a good mind full of good thoughts, we will charge the food we eat with that energy. Every cell of the body will get that message. Thinking good thoughts and thanking God for the food we get is the easiest and most effective way to directly communicate with the body. When we are happy, the body will automatically be healthy. Good sattvic food is very important. When we get free food, we should not overindulge. Always think about how people may have earned their money, whether by good or bad means, before deciding to eat in their houses. Thank the land and the farmers while eating. Eat fruit and drink water from a copper or an earthen vessel. It is also good to drink jeera water before bedtime.
Thought is very important. What we think is food for the mind. Always have a positive thought, no matter how difficult the circumstances may be. Think that any difficulty we face is for our own good. The great explorers of the past faced much adversity. Greater the adversity they faced, the more famous they later became. We still remember explorers like Columbus and Vasco Da Gama.
Along with food intake in a timely manner, we should also quickly eliminate solid and liquid waste matter the body produces. It will turn to poison if we try to control the urge to eliminate waste from the body. These poisons cause problems such as skin disease, giddiness, weakness and various types of allergies. Don’t try to control hunger. When there is hunger, eat in moderation and eat healthy food.
Control of the mind, especially desires is very important. We should know what our capacity is and we should not desire beyond that capacity.

Fingers are of a certain size. If they start to swell, we cannot bend them or use them. Similarly, when the mind swells with desire, we cannot use it effectively. It is very important to have satisfaction in life. Many people secretly harbor jealous thoughts. This stems from a feeling that we lack something and others have it. As a result, we cannot sleep peacefully. The result is anger which can cause fluctuations in blood pressure and weakness of the nerves, strokes, heart attacks and other serious life-threatening ailments.
Jealousy makes us trouble others. We create unnecessary problems, develop a cheating mentality to get ahead quickly by skipping hard work. All this causes mental misery.
Other habits such as alcohol, smoking, illegal drugs, overindulgence in sensory pleasures especially sex, very quickly lead to disease and even premature aging and death.
Working hard and coming up in life is good as long as there is no excessive physical strain or mental tension. To keep a peaceful mind, a good relationship between husband and wife is important. Both should be flexible and should approach life with one thought. Children should be given unconditional love. We should not expect anything in return. There will be tension in the family if children want to pursue a path of their dreams and we expect them to do something else. This can be a source of lifelong tension and is very unnecessary. Each individual should have equal freedom to choose and enjoy life as long as they don’t cause trouble to others.
While bathing, sleeping and going to the bathroom always think positive and be joyful. Don’t worry about tomorrow. It is alright to plan for the future, but don’t feel bad if something turns out less than what we expect. Nothing is permanent in life. If there is a loss, try not to take it to heart and harbor negative thoughts. This results in disease.
A good way to be contented with what we have is to think about so many millions of people who are worse off than us. They may be handicapped, suffering starvation, they may be living in places with no freedom, etc.
Place limits on enjoyment through the senses and limits on spending. Always earn money through honest means. Karma transfers easily from person to person through the exchange of money. Ill-gotten wealth comes with a lot of hidden negative karma. People don’t realize this in their greed. Such money won’t stay, it will leave quickly. Hard-earned money will remain as a support for us till the very end.
If we are in leadership roles in society and positions of power, we should not misuse it. By doing so, it will result in poor health, not to mention the mental tension and torture that will have to be endured. Don’t bend and leave good values and righteousness for the sake of money. Money will not help us all the time. When we are in most need, it will desert us such as when we have incurable diseases.
Maintain the environment for the enjoyment of all, eat sattvic food, and always have good thoughts. These are simple and effective means to be always happy and healthy.
Blessings to all
