There is a greater chance of getting the proverbial “heavenly judgement” than the ones meted out in courts. The black robes worn by the terrestrial judges seem to mourn the slow pace of affairs. Dockets pile up, crowding the ever shrinking pool of talented and honest judges, who are bright spots in an otherwise dark abyss. Like the morning sun that melts dew which in turn feeds the roots of the plant on which it formed, honest judges use the law of the land for the benefit of the nation. Just like the horizon is broad and endless, their scope of vision should similarly encompass all citizens of a country.
Just as the sun sets on the edge of the horizon, the power in their judgement is the final say, after it is rendered all arguments will have to be rested. Hence it is important for lawyers and judges to be timely and responsible in their work before the “sun sets” on the case. A good judge’s intellect is sharp as a needle, with the ability to pinpoint the merits and fallacies of any case. Arguments in a court of law are welcome, as long as they stay with the big picture of resolving cases and not with the intention of pushing things down the road. A judge’s pen is a very valuable instrument. Sadly, sometimes it is used only to write a future date and time when the case may or may not be heard. The pen in that case has little value, much like a pen held in a child’s hand who may be practicing writing numbers. Time once lost never returns.
